Mc Yogi
A quest to manifest this light in my chest
A quest to destress with every deep breath
A quest to express myself and be blessed
A quest to uncover what is under the surface
A quest to discover the meaning of life's purpose
A quest to unearth this so we can be of service
A quest to unify so together we can flourish
I'm on a quest.

Alrighty so I don't really love talking about myself but here goes. My path right now is to become more aware and cease identifying with my labels yet the whole point of an about page is the list the labels we identify with. Cracks me up and life is just full of beautiful paradoxes.
If you call me during the warmer months, you'll go straight to my voicemail. This is because I absolutely love going outdoors into the wilderness much as possible. I choose to live in the mountains so exploring is as simple as going into my backyard. Whether it's to forage mushrooms and plants, study up on new medicinal plants, or relax in a natural hot spring - I am all here for it. I love going on hikes, but most people get frustrated hiking with me since I love to stop, smell the ponderosas, and touch every mushroom.
Since people always ask: Yes, I hug trees, and they hug me back. :)
I get a lot of joy from learning/creating medicinal tinctures, salves, and teas from the plants and mushrooms I collect and then sharing them with people I love. I also enjoy rock hounding and mining for different types of crystals like quartz, smokey quartz, fluorite, amazonite, and so much more.
I wouldn't say that I necessarily label myself as any particular kind of religion. I refer to myself as a Hind-Buddh-Chris-Taoist with no particular hierarchy and the possibility of changing all of that at any time. My sadhana or spiritual practice is what is most important to me - everything I do, every moment, and the moments between those moments are a part of the path. I believe in one Source and we're all climbing up the mountain taking different paths to that one Source. I believe being on this incredible path to liberation is a great honor and privilege.
I love spending time with my life partner and best friend Kris. In 2017 we sold everything we had to travel and work remotely in an RV. For years we traveled all over the US, exploring the best and worst of this beautiful land we live on. We still live a minimalist life in our RV and are living full-time in Ridgway, Colorado.
I am not your typical guide. I grew up in the concrete jungle of Houston, Texas where diversity, flat land, highway overpasses, and humidity thrive. I didn't grow up in nature or scampering around the woods. I was taught to fear nature at a young age. I was told nature was dirty, unnecessary, underneath human beings, and full of evil spirits. Little did I know that befriending nature would save my life. After being ridden with anxiety, depression, a 10-year eating disorder, riding a fine line to alcoholism, and questioning whether to continue living, I began to spend time in nature. Only when I was in nature did I start to feel normal for the first time. I didn't need to do anything, consume, escape, or achieve - I could simply be. Sitting in the stillness with nature, I found that the noise and distractions began to quiet down, and I began to hear my inner voice. A voice that was familiar, but no one had taught me how to listen. Right now, my path is all about listening.
