Buddha
Medicine is anything that creates wellness in the body, mind, and spirit.
With that definition, medicine can be our thoughts, feeling emotions, what we ingest, music, our community, our environment, and anything else really. Medicine is found in more than just a pill or from you local drug store. Medicine can be anything. The area I focus on is medicine is nature and nature is medicine.
All things unseen and seen are made of energy and that energy has a certain frequency to it. Artificial sweeteners, fear, the news and tv, and negative thoughts all are on the lower end. Organic vegetables, love, compassion, mountain spring water, and forgiveness are examples of the higher end. Being on the higher end, nature is of the highest frequency as it is a direct manifestation of Source and unconditional love. And guess what, we humans are nature as well. Yes, we've been programmed to think humans are separate from nature or above nature but we aren't. We are one. We're it. It's our conditioned thoughts and minds that encourage separateness but the truth is we are not separate.
When you hug a tree, you are hugging yourself. When you look in awe of a mountain, you look in awe of yourself. The brightness of the sun is the same light found within you.
This may not resonate immediately and that is okay, it took me a while to truly believe and feel this concept. Nonetheless, nature offers us so many different types of medicine or healing, and not only with foods and pure water but the spirit within it. We can connect with this spirit in a multitude of ways.
The way I see it is in Hinduism, there is one god, and there are thousands upon thousands of gods who are incarnations or branches of the one. Each god has their own special personality, characteristics, and flaws even. I love this perspective because it makes each god personable and relatable to what we are going through in our spiritual journeys. I may call upon Krishna when I need a loving and loyal friend to turn to. I may call upon Ganesh to help me understand why an obstacle was put in front of me. I may call up Hanuman to help remind me of my strength and gifts of serving.
I see nature in a similar way. There is one god or Source and there are thousands upon thousands of incarnations or branches. It's all from one Source but we can choose what incarnation we resonate with. Every plant, rock, river, animal, etc has different personalities and characteristics. I may connect with nature through forest bathing when I need grounding or connection. I may commune with mushrooms or plant medicine when I need a broader perspective. I may consume particular herbs or plants when my body asks for help. I may bath in a natural spring when I need cleansing. It's really quite beautiful and once you begin this relationship with various forms of nature you'll notice it's all one but with different personalities.
You see, as we flow through this journey we realize there is so much we carry that keeps us separate from Source. Our programming, conditioning, attachments, etc have all been learned from the culture and environment we grew up and live in. Nature can be a beautiful partner in helping us point out where we need to heal, what we need to let go of, or what we need to pay attention to, for example. Nature doesn't do the practice for us but is a teacher in the process. Whether it be through plant medicine, forest bathing or many other methods, the common thread is cultivating a reciprocal relationship so you learn how to listen to the subtleties of nature's voice.
So this is why I do what I do. It is a calling to bring people into nature to experience nature's inherent medicine (without taking plant medicine) and create a reciprocal relationship with nature. I am not the healer but a conduit of nature so she may do her healing. Nature gives the healing to each person in her own way at the right time. The medicine is incredibly powerful when we allow ourselves to remember where we come from and who we truly are. This medicine is available to all who are willing to listen and answer the call of heartbeat of Mother Nature. Om.
With love,
Glenda
